The Optifast VLCD (Very Low Calorie Diet) program is so much more than just another 'diet'. Optifast VLCD is a holistic approach to weight management, where you receive all of the information, advice and support you need in order to lose weight and improve your health, and most importantly, to educate you on how to make sustainable lifestyle changes that will help you keep the weight off long term.
The Optifast VLCD program is suitable for you if your BMI is >30, or if you have a BMI of >27 and also suffer from conditions such as Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnoea, high cholesterol and other health risks that are associated with excess weight.
A waist circumference of greater than or equal to 102cm in men and greater than or equal to 88cm in women is associated with increased risk of metabolic complications and indicates you may be suitable for Optifast VLCD.
Whilst on the Optifast VLCD program, it is important to take an additional 2 litres of calorie free fluid each day, preferably water, plus 2 cups of non-starchy green vegetables with a teaspoon of oil.
Regular exercise increases your metabolic rate and enhances wellbeing making it an important component of the Optifast VLCD program.
